What is the Ichingportal?
The Ichingportal is a keyword search platform that lets you cross-reference the meanings of each hexagram against various web-apis and online platforms. The goal is to add hundreds of these feeds and let real-world data tell a unique story for each hexagram — creating a powerful enhancement to traditional I Ching readings.
View a Hexagram
Click on any hexagram in the sidebar to get the full description of its meaning and lines. Click the “Run the Data” button to open a modal and pull live interpretations from external data sources.
Run the Data
When you click the “Run the Data” button, a modal opens where you can select an external data source and instantly generate modern, creative interpretations using live API data.
Explore Keywords
Click any keyword in the hexagram text to instantly query and display relevant data from the selected source.
Toss the Coins
Go to the “Toss the Coins” tab, type your question, and hit “Toss Coins”. Receive your full reading with primary hexagram, changing lines, and transformed hexagram.
Re-arrange Hexagrams
Toggle “Reverse Hexes” or “Random Hexes” to shuffle or reverse the order of hexagrams in the left column for serendipitous browsing.
