Question 1

What is the I Ching Insight?

Accepted Answer

The I Ching Insight is a free, always-on news aggregator that sorts real-time headlines by the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching instead of by political leaning or editorial agenda. It pulls from thousands of news feeds and groups each story under the hexagram whose themes it most closely reflects.

Question 2

How does the I Ching Insight work?

Accepted Answer

The I Ching Insight works by matching keywords and phrases drawn from the meaning of each hexagram against the headlines and taglines flowing through live news feeds. Each of the 64 hexagrams — and its individual changing lines — carries a distinct set of themes, from Conflict (Hexagram 6) to Revolution (Hexagram 49). The aggregator scans incoming stories, identifies which hexagram's themes they echo, and files them accordingly. The result is a constantly refreshing map of current events organized by ancient meaning rather than by source or section.

Question 3

How is it different from a normal news aggregator?

Accepted Answer

A normal aggregator ranks stories by recency, popularity, or an editor's judgment. The I Ching Insight ranks them by resonance with a hexagram. The effect is similar to the Drudge Report in format, but where Drudge reflects one person's editorial eye, the I Ching Insight lets the 64 hexagrams shape the storyline. Because stories are grouped by archetypal theme instead of by political bias, the same news landscape reads differently — surfacing patterns and connections a left/right framing tends to hide.

Question 4

What does the I Ching Insight cover?

Accepted Answer

The I Ching Insight monitors thousands of feeds across every major category, including Headline News, Commentary, and Opinion; Politics, Business, and Sports; Pop Culture and Entertainment; Culture (arts, music, and theatre); Lifestyle (food, health, spirituality, and travel); and the Substack 500, a custom section scanning the emerging independent-media platform. New sections are added over time as the feed expands.

Question 5

How do you use the I Ching Insight with a reading?

Accepted Answer

You can browse the I Ching Insight on its own as a daily overview of the collective mood, or pair it with a question. Toss the coins to draw a hexagram in response to something on your mind, then read that hexagram's news feed to see how its themes are playing out in the world right now. Used this way, the day's events become a mirror for the question you brought to the oracle.
